Announcing Cara Kelly as Director of Madame Geneva


Cara Kelly has worked in theatre for over thirty years mostly as an actor but latterly as a director, with such notable directors as Max Stafford Cark, Sam Mendes, John Tiffany and Garry Hynes. For the past six years Cara Kelly has worked as a director at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and at the Tron Theatre in Glasgow. Additionally she has developed and directed outreach projects with participants living with addiction.


In London she worked with the Royal Shakespeare Company, The Royal Court, Almeida and Donmar Theatres. Whilst in Scotland she has worked many times for the Citizens Theatre, the Royal Lyceum and the National Theatre of Scotland. Cara’s family hails from Omagh, Co Tyrone which has enabled her to maintain a creative connection with Northern Ireland. She most recently appeared as Maggie in the Lyric Theatre, Belfast’s acclaimed production of Dancing at Lughnasa. She has appeared in NI television dramas: Holy Cross, The Precious, Blood, and Sunday. Cara Kelly greatly welcomes this opportunity to work again at the Lyric Theatre.
